The short version. Globie Earth has no account and no login. We do not ask for your email address. We do not use advertising or analytics trackers.
One thing leaves your device: a random identifier that we generate on first launch. The app never asks you to type in a name, a phone number or an address.
This policy explains what the Globie Earth Android app collects, why, and what you can do about it. It applies to the app only, not to our website or to any other service.
Who we are. Globie Earth is operated by OpenmindProjects, based in Thailand. We are the data controller for the information described here.
1. Your device identifier
When you first open the app we generate a random identifier and store it on your device. It is not your name, your phone number, your advertising ID, or anything you can be looked up by. We cannot trace it back to you.
We use it for two purposes:
- to attach your purchases to your device, so a subscription is recognised when you reopen the app;
- to authorise calls to our own server, so one device cannot read another device's data.
If you uninstall the app, the identifier is deleted with it. If you reinstall, you receive a new one, and purchases already associated with the old identifier are no longer recognised on that device.
2. Purchases and subscriptions
Subscriptions and tree sponsorships are sold through Google Play Billing. We never see or store your card details — Google handles the payment and tells us only that a purchase succeeded.
We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and to confirm that a purchase is active. RevenueCat receives a purchase receipt and the random device identifier described in section 1. It does not receive your name or payment details.
What we store on our side is the fact of a purchase: which item was bought, the transaction reference, and which device identifier it belongs to.
3. Notifications
If you enable reminders, the app schedules them on your device. They are local notifications. Nothing is sent to a server to make them work, and no push notification service is involved. You can turn them off in the app or in your Android settings at any time.
4. What we do not collect
For the avoidance of doubt, the app does not collect or request:
- your email address (we never ask for one);
- your contacts, calendar, photos, files or messages;
- your precise location — the app has no location permission;
- your microphone or any audio recording — the tree voices are pre-recorded audio files built into the app, and nothing is ever recorded;
- your advertising ID — the app contains no advertising SDK;
- analytics or behavioural tracking of any kind;
- crash logs or device diagnostic reports.
The app asks for only two Android permissions: internet access, and permission to show you notifications.
5. How your information is protected
All communication between the app and our server is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. Access to our stored data is restricted to the OpenmindProjects team who need it to operate the app.
6. How long we keep it
- Device identifier and app progress: until you uninstall the app.
- Purchase records: kept as long as tax and accounting rules require.
7. Your rights
You may ask us to show you what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. You may also object to how we use it. Where Thai law (the Personal Data Protection Act) or the GDPR applies, these rights are yours by law, and exercising them is free.
To make a request, email us at the address in section 10. We respond within 30 days.
If you believe we have handled your information badly, you may complain to the Office of the Personal Data Protection Committee in Thailand, or to your local data protection authority.
8. Children
Globie Earth is intended for people aged 13 and over. It is not designed for or directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles your information, we will update this page and change the effective date at the top. If the change is significant, we will also note it in the app's release notes on Google Play.
